Shafin Khan
Director, Business Development
Shafin joined MicroTech’s business development
team in 2000. He had previously held positions at Hughes
Networks, Faizer Consulting, and Crompton Greaves. He
came to MicroTech with an interest in moving into the
software industry, in a position involving global marketing.
Based in MicroTech’s NY office, Shafin
currently manages business development initiatives targeted
at companies in the U.S. and Europe. A significant part of
Shafin’s current focus is the software provider market,
including ISVs and Web-based businesses. He likes having the opportunity
to help software companies get more from their current
budgets, and leverage new technologies.
When asked about the best aspects of his job, Shafin
cites the tremendous amount he learns every day. “Working
in sales at Trigent, it’s a new experience every
day. You discover new technical problems to solve, meet
new people, and uncover new market potential. There
is no boredom.”
Shafin also sees many cross-functional learning opportunities
within MicroTech, and finds employees have a lot to teach
each other. “Project managers are more effective
the better they understand the sales process, and sales
people need to understand technology. We’re all
better at what we do when we broaden our horizons.”
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children,
reading P.G. Wodehose, as well as walking and “trekking”.
His latest excursion was a visit to Niagara Falls.
